EXOTUFF® fitting covers and jacketing are made with a modified lightweight PVC
formulation that features a high service temperature as well as excellent UV and
chemical resistance properties.

EXOTUFF® fitting covers are the perfect choice to replace conventional aluminum,
as well as fiberglass reinforced (FRP), insulation covering systems. EXOTUFF®
jacketing is form-fitting, requires no tools or fasteners, and can be sealed to create a
vapor retarder.

These features, along with indoor/outdoor capability and impressive
dent resistance, make EXOTUFF® the right material to get
the job done.

 PROPERTIES:

Fire Properties: Limiting Oxygen Index Test
ASTM D 2842 results showed 29% oxygen required
to sustain combustion (normal breathing air
contains 21%). EXOTUFF® fitting covers have a
lower BTU content and therefore a lower fuel
contribution than aluminum and FRP cover
systems.

U.V. Resistance: At the 500-hour test period
(used by the vinyl siding industry), EXOTUFF®
fitting covers performed impressively, as any
change was almost imperceptible. Testing on
standard white EXOTUFF® fitting covers for 1,293
continuous hours (QUV-1Apparatus) showed little
change in properties.

 NOTED CAUTION AREAS FOR CPVC

CPVC is not recommended for use with most polar organic materials including various solvents (i.e., chlorinated or aromatic hydrocarbons, esters, or ketones).

Resistance of CPVC to certain other fluid mixtures such as fuel oils with moderate aromatic content cannot be determined on basis of immersion testing alone. Actual use data must be
obtained.

There are a number of similarities in chemical resistance between PVC and CPVC materials. However, caution must be exercised when comparing the chemical resistance properties
of CPVC to those of PVC, which are not always the same.

The loss in tensile strength and weight change of CPVC samples immersed in ammonium hydroxide is significant enough to make CPVC suspect for use with ammonium hydroxide.

CPVC test samples exposed to surfactants and certain oils or grease have shown signs of environmental stress cracking. This situation can be greatly affected when in combination with
other chemical reagents and additional stress levels.

Prior testing is strongly recommended when required chemical service includes surfactants and oils or grease.

Current chemical resistances information is available from Proto Corporation’s office as reported by B.F. Goodrich for TempRite® CPVC, a material developed by B.F. Goodrich for extruded CPVC
pipe and injection molded pipe fittings. Proto EXOD 225® is a CPVC sheet formulated with B.F. Goodrich CPVC base resin. It is compounded with additives that allow it to be extruded into thin wide sheets for jacketing and thermoformed insulation fitting covers. EXOD 225® is similar, however it is not exactly the same as TempRite® CPVC.

Corporation recognizes that accidental leaks and spills may occur in areas where jacketing and fitting systems are present. Testing data is provided only as a guide and does not guarantee,
